WATERMELON FESTIVAL — The Alvord Watermelon Festival is today and Saturday at the Elm Creek Park. The barbecue cookoff is today. There will also be cornhole and food trucks. On Saturday, the veterans benefit breakfast begins the day, which also includes the barn quilt contest, watermelon pageant, bingo, bake sale, vendor booths, fish fry dinner, silent and live auctions and music from local artists and Monty Dawson.
